President Elect - Donald Trump
Love him or hate him, Donald Trump is President Elect. So just what does this mean? Like many readers, I really can't say for sure how this is going to work out. True, he has little to no political hands on experience, although one would think that his business dealing have brought him into contact with some very powerful politicians, which MAY give him some insight.
One thing is for certain, the American people have sent a strong message to the political class in the country and that is that they are fed up with them. The status quo for politics in America has been sternly rejected. However, I personally don't think this will change much as the President doesn't have absolute power and needs to maintain the support of his(or her) party to succeed, so in reality, the powers that be are still running the show.
The immediate effects remain to be seen. How will this affect the economy in the US, and in trading countries? Will a renewed and intensified battle against terrorism bring more backlash than success? Will diplomatic relations with Russia come to fruition? So many questions and so much time on our hands just waiting to see.
Personally, I think the concerns are far over rated. He won't have the absolute power that people think he will, and the established powers that be won't let him ruin things for their future. Either way, I plan on keeping an eye on things...just in case.
